Kilifi district food security profile

Physical and Agro-Climatic Conditions: 

Kilifi district, Coast Province, lies on 4,779.2 km2 of surface area. The district consists of 7 divisions: Bahari, Kikambala, Chonyi, Kaloleni, Bamba, Ganze and Vitengeni. Rainfall is bimodal and varies from 400mm in the hinterland to 1,300 mm in the high potential areas of the coastal plains, with a reliability of about 66%. Arable land makes up 18.9% of the total land area while water mass and gazetted forests (Arabuko Sokoke) cover 3.4% and 4.8% respectively. Full report

Physical and Agro-climatic Conditions:

Tana River District, Coast Province, is expansive with a geographical coverage of 38,782 km. It comprises seven administrative divisions: Garsen, Kipini, Wenje, Galole, Bura, Madogo and Bangale. The terrain is mainly undulating with few hills and the land slopes gently south-eastwards from 200m in the highest hills to the coastal line. Full report
