Nandi North district food security profile
Physical and Agro-Ecological Conditions:
Nandi North District lies on the western side of the Rift Valley Province and occupies 1,482 square kilometres1. It has five administrative divisions: Kapsabet, Kilibwoni, Kosirai, Kabiyet and Kipkaren. The district was created from the larger Nandi and has four main features namely: the rolling hills to the west, the Kapsabet Plateau, the highlands, and Kingwal swamp in the Baraton/Chepterit area. The land rises from 1,300m to 2,500m above sea level in the highlands. The district is hilly and underlain by outcrop of basement rock system, distinct in the north. Full report
Nandi South district food security profile
Physical and Agro-ecological Condition:
Nandi South is one of the seventeen districts of the Rift Valley Province. It is situated to the North of the Rift Valley and was curved-off the greater Nandi, becoming an operational district in 2003. The total area occupied by the district is 1,437.7 km2. For administrative purposes, it is divided into five divisions: Nandi Hills, Tinderet, Lessos, Kaptumo and Aldai. Samburu district food security profile
Physical and Agro-climatic Conditions:
Samburu District is located in the Rift Valley Province, on the northern interface between the highlands and lowlands. It has a total area of 21,126.5 km2 and falls in the driest region of the country. For ease of administration, the district is sub-divided into six divisions. These are Wamba, Baragoi, Loroki, Nyiro, Waso and Kirisia. Wamba division is the most expansive, occupying nearly 24% of the total area. Full report

Physical and Agro-Climatic Conditions:
Turkana, Rift Valley Province, covers an area of about 77,000 km2 and is the largest district in Kenya. It is made up of seventeen administrative divisions (see map). Approximately 80% of the total land area can be classified as arid or semi arid. Arable land constitutes an estimated 32% of the total area but only 3% (covered by Zones III and IV) of the district is suitable for limited rain fed production. Full report
